How to connect DeepSeek to CreateYourVPN via MCP
A step-by-step guide: installing Cherry Studio, connecting DeepSeek with an API key, and setting up the CreateYourVPN MCP server right from the chat.
In this guide, we'll connect DeepSeek to CreateYourVPN through Cherry Studio. Once it's set up, you'll be able to ask the AI in ordinary messages to check your servers, find a user, explain a problem, or — if you allow it — change your VPN settings.
The setup is simple: DeepSeek answers and picks the tools, Cherry Studio runs the chat and connects MCP, and CreateYourVPN safely performs the allowed actions in your account.
The regular DeepSeek web chat isn't used here. The API key connects the DeepSeek model to Cherry Studio, and the MCP server separately gives that model the CreateYourVPN tools.
What you'll need
- a computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux;
- a CreateYourVPN account;
- an account on the DeepSeek platform;
- 10–15 minutes.
The DeepSeek API is paid for separately, at DeepSeek's rates. Connecting MCP costs nothing extra on the CreateYourVPN side.
Step 1. Install Cherry Studio
Open the Cherry Studio download page, choose your operating system, and install the app.
Download the installer only from the official website cherryai.com.
If the app offers an update, install it: connecting MCP from the chat requires an up-to-date version.
Step 2. Get a DeepSeek API key
Go to the DeepSeek platform and sign in to your account.
Copy the key right away and keep it somewhere safe: once you close the window, it may never be shown in full again.
Check your API balance. Access to the regular DeepSeek web chat doesn't replace the balance on the developer platform.
The API key lets whoever holds it spend your DeepSeek balance. Don't send it in a chat, don't show it in screenshots, and don't share it with other people.
Step 3. Add DeepSeek to Cherry Studio
In Cherry Studio, open:
Settings → Model Provider → DeepSeek
Then:
Click the connection check button. Cherry Studio should confirm that the key works.
If the check fails, make sure the key was pasted in full, has no spaces in it, and your DeepSeek balance has funds.
Step 4. Select a DeepSeek model in the chat
Go back to the Cherry Studio main screen and create a new chat.
At the top of the window, open the model list and choose a model from the DeepSeek provider. A fast general-purpose model is fine to start with; you can pick a more powerful one later in the same menu.
Make sure you choose a model from exactly the DeepSeek provider you added the key to in the previous step. Models with similar names may come through other providers and use a different account and balance.
Send a simple question, for example: "Answer in one sentence: is the connection working?" If a reply comes back, the model is set up correctly.
Step 5. Ask the chat to connect MCP
In the same chat, send DeepSeek this message:
Connect the remote CreateYourVPN MCP server: https://mcp.createyourvpn.com/mcp
Cherry Studio will recognize the request and offer to add an MCP server. Confirm creating the connection and allow the required actions in the app's interface.
The address must start with exactly
https://mcp.createyourvpn.com/mcp. Don't use a look-alike domain, and don't
add tokens, passwords, or your DeepSeek API key to the link.
Once the server is added, Cherry Studio will open a browser so you can sign in to CreateYourVPN. On the permission page:
For the first check, choose the View level: it lets the assistant read data and run diagnostics, but not change settings.
If the chat didn't offer to connect
In Cherry Studio, open Settings → MCP Server → Add Server, choose a remote HTTP server, and paste:
https://mcp.createyourvpn.com/mcpSave the server, enable it for the current chat, and start the authorization. The manual route creates exactly the same connection.
Step 6. Check that CreateYourVPN works
Create a new chat or continue the current one, and write:
Use the CreateYourVPN tools. Show the state of my account and the list of servers, but don't change anything.
Cherry Studio will show the MCP tool call, and DeepSeek will answer using your account data. Then you can try diagnostics:
Are there any problems with servers or inbounds right now? If there are, explain them in simple words and don't fix anything without my permission.
If the connection was granted at the View level, the assistant won't be able to change the configuration. To make changes, disconnect the current connection in CreateYourVPN and connect Cherry Studio again with the Configure level.
What you can ask DeepSeek
- "Find the user by their email address and explain why their VPN isn't working."
- "Show the servers that are offline and run diagnostics on the most problematic one."
- "Check the state of routes and inbounds, don't change anything."
- "Compare the daily charges with the balance and tell me how many days it will last."
- "Suggest a plan for a new route for Germany, but don't create it without my confirmation."
For changes, it helps to ask for a plan first, and once the work is done, for a list of what changed.
If something doesn't work
Cherry Studio doesn't see the DeepSeek models
- check that the provider is turned on in Settings → Model Provider → DeepSeek;
- paste the API key again and run the check;
- make sure your DeepSeek API balance is positive;
- restart Cherry Studio.
The chat has no MCP tools
- check in Settings → MCP Server that CreateYourVPN is added and turned on;
- turn on MCP tools for the current chat;
- create a new chat after connecting the server;
- ask the model directly: "Use the CreateYourVPN tools."
The CreateYourVPN sign-in page didn't open
Open the server card in Settings → MCP Server and repeat the authorization. If your browser blocks the new window, allow it and try again.
The assistant says the action isn't available
Most likely, the View level was chosen when connecting. In CreateYourVPN, open the account menu → Connected AI, disconnect Cherry Studio, and connect it again with the level you need.
DeepSeek answers without your account data
Make sure a DeepSeek model is selected in the chat and the CreateYourVPN server is turned on for this chat. A plain model reply with no tool call card means MCP wasn't used.
How to revoke access
In CreateYourVPN, open the account menu → Connected AI, find Cherry Studio, and click Disconnect. Access ends immediately.
After that, you can also remove the server from Settings → MCP Server in Cherry Studio. If your DeepSeek API key may have ended up with someone else, delete it on the DeepSeek platform and create a new one.
Done
DeepSeek now works in Cherry Studio, and the CreateYourVPN tools are available to it through a secure connection. Start with the View level, raise permissions only for a specific task, and check what was done on the Connected AI → AI actions tab.
